The invited speaker was Co-founder of Growth Achievers Ong Shu Yi. Growth Achievers is a talent development company which aims to increase the confidence, productivity and the capabilities of the millennial and generation Z through personal mastery workshops and educational programme.

In his talk, Ong explained how the power of the subconscious mind can be used as a tool to achieve a transformational change. He said, “From the day we are born until the age of seven, we learn everything using our subconscious mind. Most of the children’s behaviours are similar to their parents because they subconsciously modelled their parents’ behaviours. After seven years old, we begin to learn things consciously. We repeat things over and over again until we know how to do it.” He continued, “You are only using five percent of your conscious mind to become what you are today. Just imagine, how powerful it would be to use the 95 percent of the subconscious mind.”

According to him, one of the keys to success was to control negative emotional states such as fear, shyness, laziness, loss and depression. “Changing your psychology and the story that you tell yourself will change your life,” he said. He also added that changing one’s posture could improve one’s confidence level and being confident was actually a learnable skill.

Moreover, he also shared the story of successful people and his own personal story to motivate the participants to achieve breakthrough results in their lives. He advised the participants to change their focus by asking empowering questions. “Instead of focusing on fear, you should focus on the things that you can do or you can have in your life,” said Ong. He also added that there is no failure for successful people but only feedback. “A successful person views their failure as an experience to be better,” he said. He also stated that the fastest way to acquire the strategy of success was to model the strategy of successful people.

The talk also witnessed a book sharing session. His book, titled “When Success Meet Happiness”, provides some guidelines on how to master self-emotion, overcome fears and doubts, build self-confidence and meaningful relationships as well as manage setbacks effectively and achieve success. The talk then ended with a group photo session, followed by a book buying session.
