Seventy-four UTAR students performed a series of scintillating cultural performances for over 500 people at Guo Thye Restaurant, Pusing, Perak on 18 August 2018.

Aimed to showcase and promote the diverse cultures around the world as well as to foster better understanding towards other ethnics and nations, the event was also sponsored by the Perak State Tourism, Arts and Culture Committee as well as the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Supervising the students’ preparation and execution of the event was Department of Soft Skills Competency (Kampar Campus) lecturer Sheela Yeoh who mentioned that the event was also meant to raise funds for the UTAR Education Foundation. “Through such platforms, our students are able to learn how to organize and manage an event. Besides that, fellow students will also be able to enhance their communication skills with people from all walks of life in the community,” Yeoh explained.

In line with UTAR’s commitment of enhancing its community outreach through various community networking channels, cultural events as such are believed to be encourage fellow Malaysians to respect, understand and appreciate the diversity within the nation and even the world.

During the event, a mock cheque presentation session was also held which saw an amount of RM10, 000 being presented to the UTAR.
