Bringing joy to the children

Sharing a joyous day with the children

A Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by the University saw a group of academics from Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) visiting Shan Children’s Home at Seberang Perai on 20 April 2019. The orphanage houses 15 children from ages 7 to 17.

Led by FBF Dean Dr Au Yong Hui Nee, the group consisted of Dr Krishna Moorthy Manicka Nadar, Dr Vikniswari Vija Kumaran, Dr Peter Yacob, Dr Foo Chuan Chew, Dr Tan Kock Lim, Cheah Chee Keong, Kong Yin Mei, Kuek Thiam Yong and Sonia Johanthan.

“Every child deserves to be loved and to be happy. Visiting them was not merely to spread joy, but to also remind them that they are loved all the time. The same can be done; reaching out to those who are underprivileged. We want to be able to share happiness with the children and to give them a meaningful day to remember,” commented Dr Au Yong.

The FBF academics gifted the children reading materials and a food hamper. Apart from the gifts, the academics also organised fun activities for the children. The mini-games included musical chair and balloon-popping. The winners from each game were awarded, while the other children received consolation prizes.
