Marketing idea pitch competition

UTAR Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus successfully organised a Three-Minute Marketing Proposal (3MMP) Competition on 13 March 2019 at its Kampar Campus.

CFS Head of Management and Accountancy Department Zurina binti Abdullah welcomed the participants and said, “The Three-Minute Marketing Proposal Competition is an annual affair. The main objective of the competition is to provide positive exposure of the real-life marketing environment to students. It also aimed to provide a platform for marketing-minded students to present their ideas. Besides, it meant to help and improve the students’ presentation skills and their confidence level.”

Themed ‘Food and Beverages’, a total of 10 participants participated in the competition this round. The competition saw the finalists reprising their three-minute proposals to the panel of judges and the finalists were judged based on the substance of their speeches, presentation skills and techniques which they have employed. Judging the competition were Faculty of Business and Finance lecturer Sim Jia Jia and CFS lecturers Tan Chi Hau and Abel Lee Cheng Ian.

The list of winners is as follows:

First Prize:

Sue Ann Tan Ching Yee – La Vida Vegan Hazelnut Chocolate Spread

Second Prize:

Tan Xin Yin – Tealive Signature Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea

Third Prize:

How Chao Xun – Village Park Nasi Lemak

“This competition has been a great learning experience for me. It has taught me things beyond what I can get in the classroom. For my friends and lecturers who encouraged me during the competition, I’m truly grateful and honoured,” said Ching Yee.

“Joining this competition came in fruitful because it brings students outside their comfort zone and helps them to overcome their biggest fear of speaking in front of a large audience. It also gave me the chance to enhance my presentation skills, confidence level and ability to respond to questions. I highly recommend to have more competitions like this in the future because as students, we have to step out of our comfort zone to see how much we have grown,” said How.

“This competition made me realise that I could speak in front of a large crowd. All these while, I thought I could not do that. I am really proud of myself. It was a great platform to express my creative ideas,” said Xin Yin.

The competition ended with the presentation of certificates and cash prize awards by CFS Director of Kampar Campus Tan Lee Siew to the winners.
