In an effort to contribute to the community and to the University, a group of 13 Bachelor of Communications (Hons) Public Relations students carried out a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project on 15 March 2019 at UTAR Kampar Campus. Joined by volunteers and the local community, the project aimed to beautify the vicinity of Kampar Campus. The project saw the students doing painting activities, including painting murals and the bicycle rack.
“As students of UTAR, we understand that we are not only called to serve and contribute to the community. We also have a role to play in maintaining the beauty of the campus and making sure that we keep the university in the best condition. This is because we are not just merely students of UTAR, but we are also the image of UTAR, and we want to contribute what we can to UTAR, as also a way of thanking UTAR for providing us a platform to further our education,” said the students.
Motivated by the colours of the rainbow, the students painted using vibrant colours, in hope that the colours will lift up the students’ mood. They also hoped that the vibrant colours will be a reminder for students to keep a positive mind, especially when going through a difficult day. “After a rainy day, a rainbow appears. Similarly, there is a blessing after a rough day because there is always something good we can learn from the things we experience, as long we keep a positive mind,” said the students.
