The Times Higher Education (THE) published for the first time on Wednesday 3 April 2019, the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2019. According to THE, this is their pioneering initiative to recognize universities across the world for their social and economic impact, based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
THE announced that Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) is ranked 101-200 in the overall THE University Impact Rankings 2019. According to THE, UTAR’s ranking is based on the university’s scaled and pre-rounded performance on Sustainable Development Goal 17- Partnership for the Goals and the top three SDGs:
SDG 4 Quality Education
SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities
SDG 5 Gender Equality
The inclusion of UTAR in these rankings demonstrates the university’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals through its teaching, research and knowledge transfer. It also reflects the embodiment of these goals in the university’s internal practices, policies and procedures, and with verifiable evidence in the activities.
