The Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus organised an educational trip to Nyok Lan Garments Sdn Bhd, Teluk Intan on 13 July 2019.
Led by CFS Kampar Deputy Director for Student Affairs and Development Lim Khiew Loon and a few other lecturers, the trip aimed to educate students on the technology as well as the techniques used by the garment manufacturer to produce the products. It also aimed to encourage students to learn something new through outdoor activities.
Nyok Lan Garments Sdn Bhd staff Khairul Effizal bin Zainal Hasnan started with a short briefing regarding the profile of the organisation, its vision and mission, the range of products and services it offers and their major clients. In addition, Khairul also mentioned that the garments are not limited to the local buyers alone, but it also involves export business to overseas markets such as France, Belgium, USA, Canada and Mexico.
After the briefing, Khairul led the participants to the factory to show them the manufacturing process. Nyok Lan Garments Sdn Bhd Chairman Fong Seow Kai Chuan and Nyok Lan Garments Sdn Bhd Managing Director Jasmyn Seow explained the manufacturing process flows in details.
Apart from that, the participants were brought to visit the warehouse department which was categorised into the purchasing department, research and development department, pattern-making department, spreading and cutting department, production and sewing department, quality control department and packing department.
The visit then ended with Lim presenting a token of appreciation to Fong and Khairul.
The students then continued their educational visit to the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan, which once served as a water tank during the dry season. The students spent their evening at the jetty of Teluk Intan to enjoy nature at the riverside. The students and lecturers expressed their gratitude to the company for a beneficial trip and they look forward to having a similar eye-opening programme in the near future.
