MoU signed to establish mutually beneficial collaboration

UTAR signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Henan Finance University on 28 November 2019 at Sungai Long Campus to boost collaboration between the two.

Signing the MoU were UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Henan Finance University Vice-principal Prof Zhang Fengge; while witnessing the signing were UTAR Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Yap Vooi Voon and Henan Finance University Personnel Office Director Prof Yang Shaowei.

Also present at the ceremony were Henan Finance University’s College of Engineering and Economics Secretary Prof Guo Lijun, Department of Foreign Affairs Deputy Dean Prof Li Xiaoyu, Department of Student Affairs Prof Li Zhao and Beijing Yisheng Zhongxing Information Technology Co., Ltd. (北京易盛中兴信息科技有限公司) Deputy General Manager Fang Lei.

Other UTAR representatives present at the MoU signing were Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, FEGT Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Assoc Prof Ir Dr Ng Choon Aun, R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Dr Pok Wei Fong, Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Division of Programme Promotion Director Lee Choy Fong and LKC FES Department of Mechanical and Material Engineering Ts Dr Jun Hieng Kiat. Also joining the ceremony via video conference from Kampar Campus was Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Peter Tan Sin Howe.

In his remarks, Prof Ewe highlighted the importance of building international partnerships. “In this increasingly globalised world, it has become necessary to expand higher education by establishing close partnerships, mutual cooperation and support with institutions from other countries, and working together for a better future,” he said. He explained that UTAR has always strived to become a global university of educational excellence, and through the global collaboration, the university has provided its students and staff with a better teaching and learning experience which could better prepare them to become global citizens.

On the other hand, Prof Zhang expressed his gratitude to UTAR for the warm welcome. He gave a brief introduction of Henan Finance University and discussed the possible ways that both institutions can collaborate. He hoped to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions which could benefit both staff and students. Among the matters discussed during the event were students and staff exchange, joint research, and other possible collaboration in the areas of common interest.
