Enhancing ties with Taipei Tech

A group of delegates from National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech), Taiwan visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 5 December 2019.

The delegates were Taipei Tech College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) Dean Prof Yuh-Shyan Hwang, Associate Dean Prof Yin-Wen Lee, Head Teacher of Undergraduate Honours Programme of EECS Prof Tung-Ju Hsieh, and Head Teacher of International Graduate Programme of EECS Prof Pei-Ying Chiang.

In the mid of meeting

On hand to welcome them were Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Prof Ir Dr Goi Bok Min and Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn. Also joining from Kampar Campus via video conference were Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Liew Soung Yue, Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Dr Lo Po Kim and FEGT Assoc Prof Ir Dr Yeap Kim Ho.

The meeting commenced with the video presentations of both universities, to enhance both sides’ understanding. Prof Hwang expressed his gratitude to UTAR for the opportunity given to deepen the communication between both parties. He is looking forward to greater collaboration in the future. On the other hand, Prof Goi gave a brief introduction of the University and pointed out some similarities between both institutions so that both could work together towards mutual goals.

In order to develop a deeper understanding and collaboration, Prof Chiang presented the development of EECS and explained the collaboration of the college with other international partners. Dr Lai also gave an overall introduction of UTAR and its faculties. He also presented some examples of the University’s collaboration and activities, and highlighted some areas of potential collaboration. Among the matters discussed in the meeting were student exchange, internship, research attachment, joint postgraduate supervision, mutual credit recognition and credit transfer programmes.

The event then ended with a presentation of souvenir, followed by a group photo session.
