Exploring international partnership

UTAR cordially welcomed delegates from Yiwu Industrial and Commercial College (YWICC) to UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 13 December 2019. The purpose of the visit was to discuss on area of collaboration.

Representing UTAR were its Internationalisation and Academic Development Vice President Ir Prof Dr Yow Ho Kwang, Faculty of Creative Industries Dean Dr David Tneh, Institute of Chinese Studies Dean Dr Chong Siou Wei, Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Dr Hen Kai Wah, Division of Programme Promotion International Student Recruitment and Business Development Deputy Director Irene Wong Hong Lei, Division of Community and International Networking Deputy Director Dr Chen,I-Chi, FAM  Department of Building and Property Management Head of Department Low Chin Kian, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKCFES) Department of Electrical and Electronic Head of Department Dr Chang Yoon Choon , LKCFES Department of Civil Engineering Dr Yip Chun Chieh.

YWICC was represented by its Vice President Li Huiling. Also present at the meeting were YWICC International Office Director Gong Sujuan, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture Deputy Dean Zhu Shuzhen, Publicity Department Deputy Director Zhou Gang, Education Supervision Office Deputy Director Wu Lei.

The meeting began with the presentation of UTAR corporate video to provide the delegates with a better understanding of the structures and programmes that UTAR offers its students as well as the achievements that UTAR has made since its establishment. It followed by Prof Yow sharing on the background of UTAR and its campuses. After that, another video presentation was carried out by Li on YWICC’s background, its campuses and current developments. She also discussed some common areas of interest.

During the meeting, Prof Yow suggested some potential areas of collaboration that would benefit both parties. Other possible areas of collaboration were also brought up by both parties during the meeting, including short-term visiting programme, internship, students and staff exchange, training, study tour, new village collaborative project and research and development cooperation in the area of accountancy and management, finance and business and others opportunities.

A souvenir exchange between Prof Yow and Li took place. It was followed by a group photography session before the meeting ended.
