In the midst of meeting with delegates from CCU
During the meeting, Prof Lie proposed some suggestions on the collaboration area and said, “We would like to have collaboration with an overseas university for students’ short-term research visit which takes about three to six months. We welcome the students who are pursuing Master or PhD, and students who are doing their Final Year Projects (FYP) to apply. For those FYP students who wish to participate in this research visiting, they have to be recommended by their Professor, most preferably, by Prof Ewe. On top of it, we would like to recruit summer internship students once we get approval from the Ministry of Education. This summer internship programme will start from March to August 2019 and it will complete within two to three months. With this, I believe it could benefit both parties in terms of further collaboration. ” Meanwhile, he also hoped that in the future, both parties could organise a lab visit to have further detail on the university’s research areas.
Prof Ewe, on the other hand, agreed with Prof Lie and said, “Our University allows ‘Dual-Guidance’. With the participation of lecturers from both universities, it could help to further enhance Inter-school cooperation. Every year, we will organise a Taiwan Fellowship programme. In that programme, we will have a short-term lecturer exchange. Hence, it would be good if we could have both parties’ lecturers to visit each other to enhance research collaborations. I believe our lecturers and students are interested to pay a visit to Taiwan and perhaps form a collaboration with Taiwan’s scholars as well. We also welcome CCU’s students to visit UTAR as well. This could eventually enhance our collaborations in different aspects.”
A souvenir exchange session between Prof Ewe and Prof Lie took place. It was followed by a group photography session before the meeting ended.
