MoU with UM and UiTM

UTAR signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) on 16 January 2019. The signing ceremony took place at Universiti Malaya. The MoU aimed to carry out works on thermoelectric heating and cooling, photovoltaic cooling design and development, students and staff exchange and joint research activities. Aside from that, the three parties will work closely on the exchange of publications, reports and other academic materials and share activities and programmes in areas of mutual interest.

Signing the MoU were UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik, UiTM Vice Chancellor Emeritus Prof Dato’ Dr Hassan Said and UM Vice Chancellor Datuk Ir (Dr) Abdul Rahim Hashim. Witnessing the MoU were UTAR Centre for Environment and Green Technology (CEGT) Chairperson Prof Ir Dr Ong Kok Seng, UiTM Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Dean Prof Ir Dr Muhammad Azmi Ayub and UM Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre  (NANOCAT) Director Prof Dr Mohd Rafie Johan.

Prof Chuah said, “The photovoltaic-thermoelectric hybrid system could offer small, mobile, transportable and off-grid power and heating systems that will be useful for small-scale industry or domestic applications especially those in more rural areas. I hope CEGT, Alternative Energy Research Centre, and Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre will optimise the opportunity to exchange thoughts and materials, collaborate in researches and conduct related activities together for productive outcomes.”

Also present at the ceremony were UiTM Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Prof Dr Mohd Nazip Suratman, UiTM Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation Prof Dr Hadariah Bahron,  Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn and other representatives from UTAR, UM and UiTM.
