UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF), Sekolah Rendah Al-Hidayah and the Fire and Rescue Department of Ipoh collaborated together to organise a fire safety awareness programme on 27 February 2019 at Sekolah Rendah Al Hidayah, Ipoh.
The awareness programme aimed to educate the school community with the necessary knowledge and understanding of fire safety legislation and appropriate evacuation procedures. Early exposure to fire safety in schools is essential so that practical actions can be taken to protect lives and property from a fire incident.
The programme started at 9 am after the “signal” for the fire began with the ring of the emergency bell, followed by students and teachers moving to gather at the assembly area for attendance taking. The programme continued with rescuing the trapped victims in the building. It was followed by a brief on the use of fire extinguishers as well as a demonstration on how to put out the fire.
Besides, an exhibition on fire engine was held to enlighten the school community on the various functions of the fire equipment on the fire trucks. It also included fire prevention techniques as well as how to react to the activation of the fire alarm system and the appropriate evacuation procedures to usher everyone to safety. Moreover, FBF also has contributed two units of fire extinguishers to Sekolah Rendah Al Hidayah, Ipoh.
The awareness programme then ended with the presentation of souvenir to Fire and Rescue Department of Ipoh officers and the presentation of donation to Sekolah Rendah Al Hidayah, Ipoh.
