In his remarks, Prof Chuah highlighted the importance of industry-academic collaboration. He believed that collaborating with industry partner could help the University strive for excellence and produce industry-ready graduates with competencies both in technical and soft skills. Commenting on the MoU, he said, “We hope that we will explore more areas particularly in providing job opportunities and organising beneficial events like workshops, career fairs and talks to the students.”  He added that training is required for students to equip them with the necessary knowledge and various kinds of professional skills. He also thanked GTI Media Sdn Bhd for their willingness to share their experience with UTAR students and he looks forward to having an active MoU that benefits both parties.

Agreeing to Prof Chuah’s remark, Isaac Hee said, “The world is changing faster than ever before. A university degree today will not guarantee you a job. People need to equip themselves with professional skills and improve their capability by constantly learning and trying new things.” He also added, “It is always encouraging for us to see how students grow and be successful. I hope that today’s MoU will open the door for us to explore more collaborative opportunities and assist UTAR to achieve its goal.”

The signing ceremony ended with a souvenir exchange between Prof Chuah and Isaac Hee, followed by a group photography session.

Prior to the MoU signing, GTI Media Sdn Bhd has been collaborating with UTAR to organise “M100 Career Challenge” since 2015. It was a recruiting event that consists of exciting series of indoor and outdoor activities that tested the students’ physical and mental ability, as well as providing opportunities for them to showcase their talents to the potential employers.
