It was a bright day for about 400 UTAR Kampar Campus Run 2019 participants who took part in the annual event held at the Sports Complex of UTAR Kampar Campus on 6 July 2019.

With the aim to bring a vibrant campus experience like no other, a group of young and enthusiastic students officially launched the UTAR Kampar Campus Run on 11 June 2019. Organised with the support of the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) of Kampar Campus, the 7km run aimed to encourage a healthy lifestyle among the UTAR students as well as to foster community engagement.

Besides the two-hour run, the event also arranged a wide array of activities, namely mini-games, food fair and a captivating wish tree for participants to experience an exciting and thrilling atmosphere. Besides, to further give colour to the event, a series of performances by UTAR clubs and societies also took place. Among them were a dance performance by the members of UTAR Dance Club, Aikido performance by UTAR Aikido Club and Karate-Do performance by UTAR Karate-Do Club.

The UTAR Kampar Campus Run was open to staff and students as well as to the members of the public in Men’s and Women’s categories.
In the Men’s category, Mohammad Ariff bin Muhammad, N. Thevan Raj and Foundation student Isaac Law Lik Jun were the champion, first and second runners-up respectively. Meanwhile, Accounting student Sin Pei San, former Foundation student Ong Ting Yi and Finance student Lim Jie Ying were the champion, first and second runners-up respectively in the Women’s category.
The top three winners from each category took home RM150, RM100 and RM50 respectively. They also received a trophy, medal and a certificate of participation.
The organising chairperson, Mahir said, “Apart from fostering community engagement, the run also aims to educate the younger generation about the importance of outdoor activities and embracing a healthy active lifestyle that can benefit our students and Kampar community. In addition to that, this run also aims to provide a healthy balance of academic and sports activities amongst the students of UTAR.”
The UTAR Kampar Campus Run is an annual event since 2011. This year, the run staged its comeback after a break of two years.
