Heartwarming gathering among alumni and guests
More than 20 alumni got together at the Pullman Hotel Kuching, Sarawak on 11 July 2019. The event was organised by UTAR Department of Alumni Relations and Placement (DARP) and UTAR Alumni Association in conjunction with the Mind and STEM Festival 2019 which was held at Chung Hua Middle School No. 1, Kuching, Sarawak.
The gathering was truly special and meaningful as it was the first time for alumni to get together with the President outside UTAR campuses. Present at the gathering were UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik, Malaysia Mental Literacy Movement (MMLM) Secretary Prof Lee Sze Wei, MMLM Committee Member Dato’ Sri Mah King Seng, MMLM Committee Member Datuk Lim Si Cheng and MMLM Assistant Secretary Lim Guat Yen.
Prof Chuah said as he welcomed the alumni, “I would like to offer my special heartfelt thanks to our alumni, many of whom have been supporting us and contributing to the Foundation. We have more than 61,000 alumni and I hope more alumni will keep in touch with UTAR so that we know our graduates are doing well and so that you can tell us about it and be motivating role models for your juniors in the university. It is also good to hear from you every once in a while, and when you have the chance, do come back and visit us at UTAR.”
During the dinner, DARP Head Lim Swea Jen gave an introduction about the DARP and the Alumni Association of Malaysia (UAAM) to provide the latest information and updates to fellow alumni. The dinner was followed by a networking session before it adjourned.
