Signing MoU to integrate contemporary technology in the classroom

UTAR and Auto Count Sdn Bhd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 17 June 2019 at Sungai Long Campus. Signing the MoU were UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato’ Dr Chuah Hean Teik and Auto Count Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Choo Yan Tiee while witnessing the signing were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Prof Ir Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Auto Count Sdn Bhd Education Consultant Naimah binti Shamsuddin.

Also present at the signing ceremony were Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) Deputy Dean Dr Hen Kai Wah, Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, FAM lecturers and students.

Under the MoU, Auto Count Sdn Bhd will supply the AutoCount Computerised Accounting Course materials to UTAR to be used for its students in relevant programmes. Certificate of completion will be issued to UTAR students who have completed the course and passed the assignments. Aside from that, lecturers who have completed the lecturers’ workshop conducted by Auto Count Sdn Bhd will also be conferred the certificate of completion by Auto Count Sdn Bhd.

The partnership also allows UTAR to access an unlimited installation of AutoCount Accounting Software (Education Version) and rebates the materials required for the course. A total of RM20 will be rebated to UTAR for the purchase of each set of course materials.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof Chuah said, “I appreciate the offer from Auto Count Sdn Bhd, which seeks to work together with UTAR to integrate contemporary technology in the classroom. I hope that the AutoCount Computerized Accounting Course will equip our students with the knowledge they will need to prepare for the world of work and that it will become an added value for them upon joining the industry in the future.”

Prof Chuah added, “UTAR always encourages exposures to new technologies. In line with that, the establishment of AutoCount Computerized Accounting Course complements the effort that we put into making UTAR graduates a step ahead of others as well as fitting the demand of the industry.”

Choo said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank UTAR for this collaboration of academia and industry for the benefit of students. AutoCount is not just an accounting software, it is a popular brand of accounting, invoicing, purchasing, inventory, payroll and many more. We are also developing an education programme for our payroll and will offer this course to UTAR. The AutoCount computerised accounting course is designed for people who wish to learn the software in a structured and easy way which is suitable for the students. Do not limit yourself with the content of your textbook, we are talking about the real practical matured business software that consists of 35 modules.”
