LAM panels with Master of Architecture students
An accreditation visit by the evaluation panel of Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) was conducted from 18 to 19 June 2019 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus.
The LAM delegates were Ar Prof Madya Meor Mohammad Fared bin Meor Razali, Dr Kamarul Afizi bin Kosman, Ar Embong bin Mohamad, Ar Wan Sofiah binti Wan Ishak, Nur Rashidah binti Abdul Rahman and Syahirul Akmar bin Suhaimi.
Representing UTAR at the visit were UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, Institute of Postgraduate Studies & Research (Sungai Long Campus) Deputy Director Ts Dr Ezra Morris Abraham Gnanamuthu, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Prof Ir Dr Goi Bok Min, Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Prof Ir Dr Yow Ho Kwang, Student Development and Industrial Training Deputy Dean Ir Dr Lim Jee Hock, Centre for Cyber Security Chairperson-cum-R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, Department of Architecture & Sustainable Design Head Ts Tan Kok Hong, Head of Programme for Master of Architecture Ar Quake Huay Tin, Department of Laboratory Management and Safety Administration Head Assoc Prof Ir Dr Gobi Vetharatnam and staff.
The aim of the accreditation visit was to verify the Master of Architecture programmes under evaluation is in compliance with the appropriate accreditation criteria in order to ensure that the graduates were adequately prepared to enter the industry.
Throughout their two-day visit, the LAM and UTAR panels had several meetings with UTAR management, academic and technical staff and students. The delegates were briefed on the Master of Architecture programme and involved in the checking of relevant documents as well as the students’ portfolio. A guided campus tour was also conducted to ensure that the university has provided adequate facilities and support for professional development and student learning.
