The Arts and Crafts Society of UTAR Sungai Long Campus held an event called Arts and Crafts Fiesta 2019 from 10 June to 14 June 2019. The fiesta was located at KA South Lobby of UTAR Sungai Long Campus.

The society prepared a variety of game booths, including craft building and mini-workshops which provided the participants an opportunity to make their own crafts to bring back home. The event also featured photo booths for beautiful handmade crafts. The society also organised various games and food booths to raise funds for their society.

The main purpose of the event was to promote the Arts and Crafts Society and bring awareness to the students. Vice Chairperson Ian Chua Kee Yean said, “We have prepared many games for the participants to enjoy. The first, second and third place winners are entitled to win prizes as well. This event aimed to raise fund for the society and promote it to the UTAR students.” The participants also had the chance to draw doodles in the space provided after playing the games.

The society’s advisor, Ng Perng Jeu was invited to give an opening speech. He said, “We wish to maintain the tradition of making arts and crafts as they are not given much importance these days.” He added, “We also wish to provide students with a better education through arts and crafts.”

Arts and Crafts Fiesta Chairperson Lim Zhi Jian was invited to officiate the opening ceremony along with Ng, Arts and Crafts Fiesta 2019 Co-advisor Ang Kok Yew and Department of Student Affairs’ Clubs and Societies Unit Manager Hedwig Anne Ng Mei Li.

The opening ceremony ended on a high note where all the committee members gathered for a group photograph before the event started.
