Visit aims to explore areas of common interest

A group of delegates from Guangdong Pharmaceutical University (GDPU) paid a visit to UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 31 May 2019 in order to foster mutual understanding and ultimately, to facilitate collaboration between both universities.

The delegates were GDPU Deputy Secretary of CPC Party Committee Assoc Researcher Wu Hongxing, School of Medical Business Dean Prof Song Yuejin, School of Food Science Dean Prof Hu Kun, School of Public Health Deputy Dean Prof Yu Ri An and Students Affairs Office Deputy Director Xu Lei. They were accompanied by APAC Education Consultants Pte Ltd Director Chong Kwan Wai.

Welcoming them on behalf of UTAR were Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) Centre for Cancer Research Chairperson-cum-Postgraduate Programmes Head Prof Ts Dr Lim Yang Mooi, FMHS Lecturer Lan Yen Min, Department of Student Affairs of Sungai Long Campus Head Loh Nyuk Leung and International Student Recruitment and Business Development Deputy Director Irene Wong Hong Lei. Also joining the discussion via video conference from Kampar Campus were Faculty of Science Dean Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng, Student Development and Industrial Training Deputy Dean Dr Sit Nam Weng and Department of Allied Health Sciences Head Dr Chee Huei Phing.

In the mid of meeting

The meeting commenced with Prof Choong’s welcoming address and a presentation of UTAR corporate video. It was followed by a presentation from Wu, sharing the background and current development of GDPU in order to forge links and explore areas of common interest. Some other possible areas of collaboration were brought up during the meeting, including short-term visiting programme, internship, students and staff exchange, training, study tour and new village collaborative project. 

A souvenir exchange session between Prof Choong and Wu took place. It was followed by a group photography session before the meeting ended.
