Dr Lai welcomed the delegates and discussed the possible area of cooperation with RUC in terms of student and lecturer exchange, study tour and internship programme. He added, “It would be great if our lecturers could have a short-term visit to RUC for the purpose of research attachment. I believe it would benefit the lecturers for their research. Besides, we could also have a collaboration on co-teaching system, starting from partial courses.”

Prof Yang, on the other hand, agreed with Dr Lai and said, “Apart from that, I also hope that we could organise an administrative staff exchange for at least half a month in the future. This is not only to see how the management of both parties function, but also to get a better idea on how to improve our management as well.  Besides, I also found that we share a similar vision which is to become a global university or school. Hence, I anticipate that our collaboration would create better opportunities for our lecturers and students.” Meanwhile, he also extended his invitation to UTAR lecturers to participate in the “International Summer School” programme which is organised by RUC.

Dr Pok said, “UTAR also provides a dual-master programme. However, RUC students are required to study in China for about two semesters before studying in Malaysia for at least one semester. During that semester, students are required to complete a research project in order to receive the MBA certification from Malaysia. If the students meet the expectations set by RUC, they will receive the MBA certification from China as well. Hence, the students will get dual-MBA certification in just one and half a year.”

A souvenir exchange session then took place between Dr Lai and Prof Yang before the meeting ended.

The visit aimed to further explore the structures and programmes that both universities offer to the students through video and PowerPoint presentations. It also aimed to build rapport and promote mutual understanding between UTAR and RUC.
