An accreditation visit by Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Malaysia evaluation panel was conducted from 19 March 2019 to 20 March 2019 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus.

The aim of the accreditation visit was to verify the Engineering programmes under evaluation in compliance with the appropriate accreditation criteria in order to ensure that the graduates were adequately prepared to enter the engineering profession. The assessment involved four Engineering Degrees Programmes, which were Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Biomedical Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Chemical Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Mechatronics Engineering.
Headed by Senior Evaluator Ir Prof Dr Law Chung Lim, the EAC delegates were consisted of panel members Ir Prof Dr Arazi Bin Idrus, Ir Dr Yee Hooi Min, Ir Ahmad bin Tamby Kadir, Dato' Ir Prof Dr Abdul Wahab Mohammad, Ir Dr Umi Fazara Binti Md Ali, Ir Yong Yoke Choon, Ir Dr Mas Sahidayana Mohktar, Ir Prof Dato' Dr Mohammed Rafiq Bin Abdul Kadir, Ir Dr Hj Muhamad Fuad Abdullah, Ir AP Dr Mohamed Thariq Bin Hameed Sultan, Ir Dr Budiman Azzali bin Basir, Ir Mohd Hazli bin Hashim, Observer Assoc Prof Dr Cheng Chin Kui and Secretariat Mohd Nizam Abd Malik.
Welcoming the EAC delegates at the opening meeting were UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Prof Ir Dr Goi Bok Min, Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Prof Ir Dr Yow Ho Kwang, Student Development and Industrial Training Deputy Dean Ir Dr Lim Jee Hock, Centre for Cyber Security Chairperson-cum-R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Deputy Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, Heads of department and UTAR staff.
Throughout the visit, EAC delegates had several meetings with UTAR management, academic and technical staff, students, and external stakeholders such as UTAR alumni and industry advisors. The visit also involved checking of relevant documents and campus tour with the purpose of ensuring that the university has provided adequate facilities and support for professional development and student learning.
The visit then ended with an exit meeting in the presence of Prof Faidz, Deans, Heads of department, and EAC panel members.
The EAC is a delegated body by the Board of Engineers Malaysia as the only recognised accrediting body for engineering degree programmes offered in Malaysia. It is made of representatives of the Board of Engineers (BEM), the Institution of Engineers of Malaysia (IEM), Industry Employers, Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and the Public Services Department (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia, JPA). Since the year 2,000, it has provided leadership and quality assurance in engineering higher education.
