Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd awarded scholarships to UTAR students
Five UTAR students received scholarships at the Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Scholarship Presentation Ceremony which was held at Sungai Long Campus on 4 November 2019. The recipients were Cheah Jing Hui, Heu Jun Fai, Siew Tze Hung, Teh Junjie and Kang Hui Mei. Each recipient received RM10,000 per year which will go into the payment of tuition fees.
Present at the presentation ceremony were UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat, UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation & Academic Development Prof Dr Yow Ho Kwang, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relation Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, Malaysia Representative Office HR Director of Huawei Fu Dan, Southern Pacific Recruitment and Allocation HR Director Zhu Rui, Southern Pacific Recruitment and Allocation HR Manager Derrick, students and staff.
Prof Ewe said, “I would like to extend my heartiest gratitude to Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd for providing this scholarship to five UTAR students. UTAR is indeed grateful for this generous contribution in support of UTAR students. I believe today’s ceremony will be a good start for future UTAR graduates to work with Huawei Technologies. Some of our graduates are also currently working with Huawei Dubai, Puerto Rico and China. Such international exposure really enhances our graduates’ employability and capability to work in a global setting.”
He added, “I hope this financial assistance will motivate the recipients to excel further in your studies and encourage you to look forward to a good career with Huawei Technologies. Most importantly, you must aim to be responsible citizens as well as dedicated employees who contribute positively to the company, society and the nation.”
Zhu Rui said, “It’s my great honour to be here to witness this ceremony today. UTAR is always one of Huawei’s top collaboration university in Malaysia, especially in young talent development. I’m glad to say that Huawei has offered job opportunities to 25 UTAR graduates in 2019 and this makes a total number of 180 alumni working in Huawei. UTAR alumni have left footprints of UTAR in many places as they work overseas.
Zhu Rui added, “I’m so happy we’ve selected five students to receive this scholarship. I’ve interviewed all of them during the application and I’m impressed by all of them due to their passion, attitude, innovative ideas and strong eagerness to acquire new knowledge. We would also offer job to them upon graduation. Today’s ceremony is not the end of our collaboration, we strongly hope for future opportunity to support UTAR in enhancing the IT infrastructure by using Huawei’s latest ICT networking technology. Let’s work together in the future to develop more talent and business collaboration with each other.”
