The Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus organised an educational trip to Quality Coils Industries Sdn Bhd, a mosquito coil manufacturing company at Mambang Diawan, Kampar on 5 October 2019.

Led by CFS Kampar Deputy Director for Student Affairs and Development Lim Khiew Loon and lecturers Remie Lee Ren-Yi, Pan Wai Seng and Tsen Tzu Yee, the objective of the trip was to explore the technology and techniques used by the coil manufacturer to produce the products. Besides, it also aimed to educate students on the production process as well as the machines used in the production line, thus encouraging good interaction among students.

Upon arriving, the participants were briefed by the safety and health officer Muhammad Nawawie bin Khairi on the company profile, the products manufactured, the major clients and the safety precautions in the factory. Shortly after the briefing, the participants headed to the factory to see the manufacturing process of the mosquito coils. The manufacturing process began with dry blending, followed by kneading, extruding, stamping, drying, packing and finally the quality assurance checking.

After visiting the factory, the participants were invited to the conference room to view a video of the factory’s workflow and facilities in Thailand. This was followed by a sharing session conducted by Assistant General Manager Ng Jun Kee and General Manager Wong Hon Kai.

Ng shared about the marketing strategies, the prospects of coil industry and his work experiences, and the requirements to be an employee in the company. Apart from that, the participants also received a box of mosquito coils after the sharing session.

The visit then ended with Lee presenting a token of appreciation to Ng and Wong.
