Recognising the need to provide
protective equipment to the health workers and frontliners during the
COVID-19 pandemic,
UTAR donated 1,000 face
shields to Assunta Hospital on 21 April 2020 and 1,000 face shields to
Hospital Ampang on 22 April 2020. The 3D printed face shields were made in
UTAR Sungai Long Campus by a group of students from the Lee Kong Chian
Faculty of Engineering and Science who set up an enterprise named
Kon10 Innovation.
The purpose of donating the face
shields was to show the University’s support and appreciation to the
healthcare and frontline workers who are contributing their services to the
people and nation.
Kon10Innovation is a registered
enterprise under UTAR’s
Unovate Centre with Kevin
Lim Kai Wen as its leader and founder along with three members, Lim Tyng
Xian, Sin Chia Ling and Ooi Hsin Yein. They used 3D printers to make the
face shields with help from
Printcess Printing and student volunteers.
