Special Visit by Consulate General of China in Penang
UTAR was proud to welcome the Consulate General of China in Penang, Mr Lu Shiwei who made a special visit to Kampar to present “health packs” to Chinese students studying in UTAR Kampar Campus. Mr Lu Shiwei extended his regards to the Chinese students and presented a total of 800 face masks and 81 packs of personal protection equipment (PPE) to the Chinese international students of UTAR Kampar Campus who are currently in Malaysia. The distribution was made at Westlake Villas, Kampar on 28 April 2020.
Receiving the PPE packs on behalf of the students were UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong and UTAR Council Member Mr Hew Fen Yee. Also present were Vice-Consul from the Consulate General of China in Penang Ms Liang Lu and Head of UTAR Department of International Student Services Mr Ngan Mun Wai.
During his trip, Mr Lu extended distributed the PPE packs to two representatives of UTAR Chinese international students, namely Bachelor of Science (Hons) Chemistry student Chen Jiayi and Master of Science (Computer Science) student Liu Jialei. He also had a brief interaction with Prof Choong, Mr Hew and Mr Ngan.
He conveyed the Embassy and China’s care for the health and safety of the Chinese students studying abroad. He hoped that the students could face COVID-19 with scientific and rational attitude, study well, and actively cooperate with the anti-epidemic prevention and control measures of the University.
Consul General Mr Lu Shiwei expressed his gratitude to UTAR for the consistent support to the Chinese students. He also donated face masks to UTAR academic staff and other students in UTAR.
