The talk was divided into two sessions and each session took about 30 minutes. Dr Falahat, who spoke on the first session, gave tips on how to become an entrepreneur and what makes a successful entrepreneur. According to him, a successful entrepreneur is not born, but can be learned and trained through experience, knowledge, hardworking and right mindset.
He said, “We shouldn’t be afraid of failure because we learn and gain experience through failure”. He explained that being hardworking and having the right mindset can be achieved by defining clear goals in life. He further elaborated that UTAR has established Unovate Centre in 2018 with the aim to equip academic staff, students and alumni who wish to start a business with sufficient knowledge by providing mentoring, training, business and legal advice.

The second session saw Cheong explaining why one should become an entrepreneur and the things that one should consider before becoming an entrepreneur. Cheong said, “The world has changed and it will continue to change. Therefore, we should change according to the changes. For instance, working-from-home culture has currently become popular, thus a lot of businesses are home-based.” He also mentioned that we should consider certain things before starting a business which include “who are our customers?”, “what are our products?”, “how do we communicate with customers?” and “product iteration (product changes)”. “It is a journey, not a destination,” he said and explained, “We have to start everything step by step and never be afraid to fail because failure will teach us valuable lessons and makes us strong.” The talk ended after a Q&A session.
