The 1st AASC brings together students for insightful exchange

UTAR Centre of Sustainable Architecture (COSA), together with UTAR Architecture Society, organised The 1st Asian Architecture Students Colloquium (AASC) on 5 and 6 November 2020. The colloquium was conducted online via Zoom, with the aim to create a virtual interactive platform for architecture students to share their work, to exchange ideas as well as to interact with their peers from different countries.

The 1st AASC brought together 37 architecture students from seven universities to discuss the theme “Architecture Transgressing Boundaries”. Other than UTAR, the participating universities included Guilin University of Science and Technology, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Silpakorn University, Tianjin Chengjian University, University of 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya, and University of Warmadewa.

The colloquium served as an intellectual sharing platform for all participating architecture students. There were a total of 22 architecture student projects presented at the colloquium. Along with the presentation of student projects, the colloquium provides an opportunity for networking and meaningful exchange among the students in various universities.

Commenting on the event, COSA Chairperson Dr Lim Poh Im said, “The AASC was not just an inaugural intellectual exchange for architecture students across Asia, it provides a platform for them to network, and hopefully this will sprinkle into something meaningful in future. We are glad to know that the students were already planning on other activities immediately after the AASC.”
