UTAR Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences nursing students recently went on a virtual field trip with their lecturers to ReGen Rehab Hospital to learn more about rehab medicine. Since the pandemic has curbed physical group visits, this has not stopped them from learning virtually. The lecturers of the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) programme arranged a briefing and introduction of the rehab hospital as a virtual tour.

The Director of Nursing of ReGen Rehabilitation Hospital, Ms Pei Lee, presented a talk titled "Introduction to Rehabilitation Medicine". It was a new experience for the new intake of UTAR nursing students. The session was further enriched with information on the nursing care aspect. Nurse educator, Ms Cheah Siew Jiun presented a talk titled "Rehabilitation Nursing".

The session ended with a gratitude note by Ms Pei Lee, “Thank you so much for having this session with us at the hospital. This is a very good opportunity for us to share with you all what rehab is all about and how we support our patients in their recovery.”

Student Nurse Marini Fatini said, “In my opinion, from the virtual visit, it is quite interesting because I got to understand what rehabilitation really means and how hospitals, such as ReGen Rehab Hospital, manage the hospital and help patients by providing various support services and facilities.”

Student Nurse Jocelyn Low mentioned, “The virtual hospital visit is very informative and provided great exposure for nurses-to-be. It shows the roles and responsibilities of a nurse's daily life along with its challenges. Both invited speakers shared their experiences passionately and it motivated me to strive harder to be a more professional nurse in the future.”
