Delegates from Hengyang Normal University (HYNU) visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 27 December 2019. During the visit, a discussion was held between both parties to consider areas of collaboration.

The delegates from HYNU were its President Prof Dr Pi Xiuping, Personal Office Director Prof Chen Liezun, International Exchange Office Director Prof Tan Xiaoli, Centre of Policy and Regulation Research Director Prof Zhang Boyong and Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering Vice Dean Prof Long Zuqiang.

Welcoming the delegates on behalf of UTAR were its Internationalisation and Academic Development Vice President Prof Dr Yow Ho Kwang, Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Institute of Chinese Studies Dean Assoc Prof Dr Chong Siou Wei, Institute of Management and Leadership Development Director Prof Dr Cheng Ming Yu and Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research Manager Chen Set Fong.

The meeting began with Prof Yow sharing the background of UTAR and its campuses. It was then followed by the presentation of UTAR corporate video to provide delegates with a better understanding of the structures and programmes that UTAR offers as well as the achievements that UTAR has made since its establishment. It was then followed by Prof Pi’s presentation on HYNU’s background, its campuses and current developments. He also discussed some common areas of interest.

During the meeting, Prof Yow suggested some potential areas of collaboration that would benefit both parties. Other possible areas of collaboration were also brought up by both parties during the meeting, including short-term visiting programme,  students and staff exchange, training, study tour and research project on “One belt and One Road initiative”. 

A souvenir exchange session between Prof Yow and Prof Pi took place. It was followed by a group photography session before the meeting ended.
