The Chinese Medicine Task Force of Malaysia (COVID-19) and its partners collected medical supplies worth more than RM300,000 for communities and medical authorities
A donation drive aimed at collecting medical supplies for communities and medical authorities was held by the Chinese Medicine Task Force of Malaysia (COVID-19).
The task force, initiated by UTAR’s Head of Department of Chinese Medicine and Chairperson of Centre for Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine Dr Te Kian Keong, was composed of UTAR Department of Chinese Medicine and Alumni of Chinese Medicine; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Expert Committee of Education Association between Malaysia and China; Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Malaysia Alumni Association (BUCMMAA); and School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiamen University Malaysia.
As part of the task force’s initiative in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, the activity was conducted in collaboration with Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce; The Association Of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China, Malaysia; United Chinese School Committees' Association of Malaysia; The United Chinese School Teachers' Association of Malaysia; The Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall; Association of Belt and Road Malaysia; Peking University Alumni Association of Malaysia; The Association of Graduates from Tsinghua University, Malaysia; TusStar-Malaysia; China Student Federation Malaysia; Malaysian Students Association in China; Huaqiao University Alumni Association of Malaysia; Jinan University Alumni Association of Malaysia and GD EXPRESS Sdn Bhd. It received a very good response as many warmhearted donors reached out to support this life-saving cause.
The collected medical supplies, which valued more than RM300,000 and weighing nearly 1.5 tons, consisted of materials such as face masks, N95 respirators, protective suit, thermometers, shoe covers and barrels of disinfectant. Most of the materials were handed over to Selayang Hospital, Selangor Health Department, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, several primary and secondary schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Klang Hainan Association, and police station. The materials will also be distributed to Melaka Health Department, some schools and vulnerable groups.
Dr Te thanked all the partners and donors who put in a lot of effort and resources to make this happen and he hoped that everyone can rally together and join forces to keep the pandemic at bay.
