An enriching information day for commerce and accountancy students

Aimed at providing inspiration, career exposure and advice to students, UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) successfully organised an enriching Information Day at its Kampar Campus on 20 February 2020.

Attended by more than 100 students specifically from the Department of Commerce and Accountancy (DAC), the one-day programme invited three professional bodies, namely Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) to educate the students on the importance of professional qualifications for their career prospects and advancement.

Head of DAC J. Sonia enthused, “The information day was conducted particularly for undergraduates from commerce and accountancy department. The professional bodies were invited to set up information counters in order to create a platform for them to disseminate the right information by sharing about their roles and status to students.” She added, “The objective of these information counters was to expose students on their career opportunities mainly related to accounting for them to venture in the future. Not only students were showing interest but FBF lecturers were also interested to know more regarding the professional bodies and how they could enhance their career. Through this opportunity, we are also looking forward to potential collaboration in the future with more professional bodies to enhance UTAR’s branding as one of the renowned education providers in Malaysia.”
