The Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) along
with the South China Agricultural University (SCAU) organised a series of
four seminars with the hope to create an opportunity for the researchers and
FAM staff to develop a professional rapport with peers in SCAU as well as to
promote long-term research collaboration and overseas teaching attachment.
The seminars were hosted using Zoom which saw more than 600 participants.
Q&A session
The first seminar which took place on 15 September
2020 focused on Agribusiness. In the webinar, SCAU academics
Dr Liang, Feifei presented on “Estimating
the Value of Information of NuVal Nutrition Label” while Prof Dr Jiang,
Baichen spoke on “Market demand and premium level of high-quality
agricultural products— Based on consumers' willingness to pay”. FAM
lecturers Dr Goh Hong Lip and Dr Aye Aye Khin presented on “Consumer
preference for genetically modified food in Malaysia” and “Estimation of
Current and Future Trends of Rubber Prices and Their Relationships during
covid-19”
respectively.
“Management and digital transformation” was discussed during the second
seminar which was held on 22 September 2020. FAM lecturer Dr Low Mei Peng
presented on “Micro-level CSR and its relevance during the covid-19
pandemic” while FAM Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate
Programmes Dr Hen Kai Wah shared “Cross-Border E-commerce: Opportunities and

entrepreneurship”.
The third seminar “International Trade” took place on 25 September 2020
whereby FAM lecturers Low Choon Wei and Dr Tun Yin Li discussed “Issues and
Indicators Malaysian Economy” and “Eclectic Paradigm and Channels for FDI
Spillover” respectively. Fu, Bo presented two topics, namely “China's
foreign direct investment outflow: Current situation, opportunities and
challenges” and “The internationalisation of China’s Renminbi currency: the
causes, process and development path”.
In the seminar of Finance and Accounting on 28
September 2020, SCAU academics Dr Dong, Ying presented an introduction of
household finance in China while Dr Yan, Lingxiao shared “The effect of
offshore wind power projects on recreational beach use on the east coast of
the United States: Evidence from contingent-behaviour data”. FAM lecturers
Yap Wai Onn and Dr Tee Peck Ling presented on “The Impact of the imposition
of Digital Tax in Malaysia” and “Benefits to Invest in Unit Trusts and
Investment-Linked Funds: Top Performers in Malaysia” respectively.
