China-Malaysia
Youth Chinese Medicine Virtual Mobility Programme provides a learning and
sharing platform for staff and students of GUTCM and UTAR
UTAR and
Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (GUTCM) jointly organised the “China-Malaysia Youth Chinese Medicine Virtual Mobility Programme” (中国贵州—马来西亚青年“中医线上游学营”)
from 25 November 2021 to 28 November 2021.
The theme of the programme was ‘Inheritance, Exchange, Integration
and Sharing’(“传承交流融合共享”). In the four-day event, more than 200
students from China and Malaysia gathered via Zoom to attend the sharing
sessions conducted by the experts and visit each other’s campus and museum
exhibitions. A competition on Traditional Chinese Medicine knowledge was
also held to encourage the exchange and forge friendships between the
students.
In his remarks
during the closing ceremony of the programme, UTAR Division of Community and
International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn said that
online communication transcends geographical limitations and provides a
convenient learning platform for lecturers and students of the two sides. He
also mentioned that in addition to increasing knowledge, it would also
encourage the students to maintain their enthusiasm for learning and enhance
their global employment capabilities.
Xi Jin, the
director of GUTCM International Exchange and Cooperation Office, said that
the pandemic could not stop the continuation of the international
educational exchanges and the dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine
culture. According to her, the University promoted a series of online
international exchange activities in a new and practical form and with
fruitful results this year. Since the establishment of exchanges and
cooperation between GUTCM and UTAR in 2019, both universities have reached a
consensus on training international talents in Chinese medicine, as well as
deepening teaching, scientific research, and clinical cooperation, and
working together to promote the development of Chinese medicine.
The “China-Malaysia Youth Chinese Medicine Virtual Mobility Programme” is a joint effort of the two universities in overcoming the impact of the pandemic and actively promoting international academic exchanges. In the future, the two universities will further deepen cooperation in the areas such as mutual recognition of credits and clinical exchanges.
