In conjunction with
the MES Group 10th Anniversary, UTAR and MES Asia Sdn Bhd signed a
memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form a partnership. The event took
place on 26 November 2021.
The MoU was signed by
UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat and MES Asia Sdn Bhd Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) Donna Ng. It was witnessed by Lee Kong Chian Faculty of
Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and MES Asia
Sdn Bhd BIM Manager Muizzuddin Jambari.
UTAR President Ir
Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat enthused, “I am glad to note that UTAR is collaborating
with MES Asia Sdn Bhd, a BIM Consultancy company offering BIM Project
Management throughout the project life cycle for the architecture, engineers
and construction industry. With the signing of this MoU, UTAR and MES Asia
Sdn Bhd will work together to encourage joint research and development as
research plays an important social role in assisting entities and
governments in developing policies, products and services that respond to
the future success of society and humanity.
Prof Ewe added, “UTAR
believes in industry-academic cooperation which benefits students, academic
staff and industry experts as both parties will organise joint short
courses, seminars, conferences, industry advisory activities, industry
visits, training and consultancy. On behalf of the University, I extend my
sincere appreciation to MES for sponsoring five BIM software licenses to our
Civil Engineering students to study and conduct research for their final
year projects as well as allowing our students to be exposed to the industry
through the industrial placement programme to meet the increasingly
challenging and ever-changing industrial requirements.”
The MoU aimed to
facilitate the exchange of ideas and facilities, promote staff attachment
and mutual visits by staff members, pursue research and curriculum
development, and facilitate participation in seminars, conferences and
workshops that are relevant to the industry.
Through this MoU,
UTAR undergraduate and postgraduate students will also gain industry
exposure through the industrial study visits. These initiatives would be a
great learning opportunity for students to enhance their learning
experience, professional development and curriculum development. UTAR is
indeed pleased with this collaboration as it will enhance the learning
experience of our students through the industrial placement. With this
opportunity, UTAR students will be prepared to meet the increasingly
challenging and ever-changing industrial requirements.
