According to UTAR Head of Department of Chinese Medicine Assoc Prof Dr Te
Kian Keong, more than 700 people (up to the present) were given

Chinese herbs (consisting of Herbal Tea)
	for free.
The effort of giving free Chinese herbs was initiated by the Chinese Medicine Task Force of Malaysia (COVID-19), in collaboration with Federation of Chinese Physicians and Medicine Dealers Association of Malaysia, GHHS Chinese Medical Centre, and Peking Tongrentang (M) Sdn Bhd.
Assoc Prof Dr Te, who also led the Chinese Medicine Task Force of Malaysia (COVID-19), said the free Chinese herbs were distributed to COVID-19 high-risk areas in Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru, Klang, and Klang Valley, etc.

He said residents who are interested in getting free Chinese herbs can
register online and the free Chinese herbs will be given based on the
requestor’s health condition and tongue assessment.
“The Herbal Tea consists
	of

	Bo He (Herba Menthae),

	Sang Ye (Folium Mori),

	Huo Xiang Ye (Herba Agastachis),

	He Ye (Folium Nelumbinis),

	Dan Zhu Ye (Herba Lophatheri),

Sheng Yi Yi Ren (Semen Coicis),

	Fu Ling (Poria), and

Sheng Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae).
Other Chinese herbal medicines will be added based on the individual’s
	tongue and their personal
	assessment,” he said.

He noted that the free Chinese herbs were not only provided to the public,
but also the COVID-19 patients and discharged patients. “More than 40
patients have sought Chinese medicine services from the task force after
being discharged from the hospital,” he said.

He explained that the task force has been providing herbal tea to the public
for free since last year March. According to him, there was an increase in
demand recently for the Chinese herbs due to the rise of COVID-19 cases.
“There were about 20 to 30 people who signed up in a single day for the
Chinese herbs,” he said. Not only Chinese, but other races also registered
	for the Chinese herbs.
At present, the task force had provided Chinese medicine services in COVID-19 red zones in Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru, Klang, and Klang Valley, etc. The area will be expanded to benefit more people in the future.
