Foundation in Science student Queenie Lim Jia Yinn who recently won the Most Talented UTARian award shares her story. “Play Hard, Work Even Harder, and you will be the hardest to defeat,” said Queenie Lim.

Queenie Lim who also won the first runner up in 2021 Global Unipreneurship Grant Programme, 2021 The Best Exhibitor MCM Unipreneurship Award, Consolation prize at VIVO International Short Film 2021 and others said, “Currently, I have a Shopee store and a few dropshipping stores that generate income for me. Aside from those, I am also starting up a start-up for an app.”

When asked what made her stood out from the rest in the competition, she said, “I know my business well so I made thorough planning for my business pitch and thorough analysis for my business plan. I was confident that my business plan will work, and I know I presented it well during the business pitch competition.”

Queenie Lim had clear goals prior to joining UTAR. She recalled, “I joined UTAR because I know it provided a lot of extracurricular activities and competitions which can help develop my character as I learn more skills.”

“I am proud that I’ve achieved some awards. This is just the starting of my entrepreneurship journey and I still have a long way to go. The journey was not a smooth sailing journey as I needed to work part-time while pursuing my Foundation studies full time during the second trimester. That period has certainly moulded me to become who I am today, one who is not afraid of embarrassment and one who continuously perseveres with a tough mindset to achieve the goals in life. I am a disciplined person, and I will work towards achieving my goal,” added Queenie Lim.

Queenie Lim advised, “It is not necessary for all to be an entrepreneur, but one needs to follow their passion in life. When you have passion in the things you do, you will eventually be successful. It is important to do what you like, and you can be anyone you want to be. It is possible for us to achieve our goals in life or master any skills we wish for if we put effort in the things we do.
