FAM organises campaigns to support frontliners and flood victims

The Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) and the Committee for Community Outreach (CCO) jointly worked together to launch the “Care 4U – Frontliner” campaign recently. The campaign aimed to support the frontliners by providing them with food and drinks.

FAM took the initiative to show its support to the healthcare frontliners and uniform officers, in particular the Police Force, Armies and RELA members by contributing some food and drinks as a token of appreciation to them. Also, 50 participants from the Kajang Community Neighbourhood put in their efforts to prepare food and distribute it to the frontliners.

The “Care 4U – Frontliner” campaign was led by FAM lecturer Robaisya binti Rahmat. “Although it is not done on a big scale, we are glad to be able to contribute in a small way to the society,” she said and added, “The donation response from FAM staff was overwhelming and positive. With a minimum contribution of RM2.50 for each staff, we will be able to sponsor a bottle of 100plus or mineral water for each frontliner. Currently, we have managed to collect RM2,803.50. The contributions will be used in stages until the end of June.”

She also said, “The first round was conducted on 4 June 2021. It consisted of 150 pax of food sponsored by the Kajang Community Neighbourhood and 150 bottles of 100plus and mineral water by FAM staff. We donated 100 pax of food and drinks to Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Kajang and 50 pax to the Forensic Unit, Hospital Kajang. Continuing the effort, our next target was uniform officers at roadblock checkpoints that were managed by Unit Kebajikan, IPD Kajang, Hospital Serdang, etc. This campaign started in June. It will be carried out until the end of June.”

Previously, in April 2021, FAM also raised RM1,948 for the Flood Donation Drive campaign. The main objective of this donation drive was to assist the flood victim students on the East Coast. Thirty-six student recipients from SMK Chukai and SMK Ayer Puteh in Kemaman, Terengganu received student aid packages. The student aid packages were purchased using the donated funds. The package consisted of school essential items such as bag and stationery.

The packages were sent to SMK Chukai and SMK Ayer Puteh on 25 April 2021 and 27 April 2021 respectively with the support of Mydin Kuantan Emporium. Mydin Kuantan Emporium was also responsible for preparing the items for the student aid package. A total of 18 students from SMK Chukai and SMK Ayer Puteh received the student aid packages. These packages aimed to help reduce their families’ burden.

FAM and the project committee would like to thank everyone for their generosity, especially the Kajang Community Neighbourhood and Mydin Kuantan Emporium for their helping hand in making the campaign a success. UTAR will continue to play a role in providing aid measures for communities in the future.
