The Department
of Architecture and Sustainable Design (DASD) successfully conducted yet
another e-Orientation session for students of May 2021 intake despite the
ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown. The e-Orientation session
was held on 19 June 2021 via Microsoft Teams.
Led by Event Chairperson Joan Ong, a total of 14 committee members worked together to organise this event in the middle of the semester break to accommodate the new batch of students. The theme ‘Inception’ was inspired by the meaning of the word which is the beginning of something new; the committee figured that since it is a new beginning for the new students. “We wanted them to see it as something adventurous,” said Joan Ong.

Everyone
proceeded to hop into a bunch of planned station games and ice breaking
sessions to get to know each other better. Coming to the end of the event, a
Q&A session was held between the seniors and the newcomers. The seniors also
took the opportunity to encourage the new students and advise them to
prepare themselves for the upcoming semester. Overall, it was a successful
event as everyone had a lot of fun and managed to make new friends.
