FAM conducts sharing session on personal financial planning

To inculcate the idea of the importance of financial planning, the Faculty of Accountancy and Management organised a webinar, featuring Agensi Kaunselling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) Trainer and Deputy President of the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) Dr Desmond Chong Kok Fei as a guest lecture for the course on “Personal Financial Planning and Management” on 3 March 2021.

The webinar, hosted via Microsoft Teams saw about 100 students. During the webinar, Dr Desmond Chong shared his experience in the industry and the real-life cases so students can learn to manage their finances into their adult life and avoid debt down the road. Aside from that, Dr Desmond also introduced AKPK as an agency set up by the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in the year 2006 as part of BNM’s Financial Sector Master Plan (2000-2010).

From the insightful webinar, students gained knowledge on the importance of prudent financial planning as a young adult and the consequences of loss of credit control as well as the approach to meet one's life goals through financial planning.
