Nur Rawaidah sharing her experience

She began the session by explaining what it means to be disabled and described the various forms of disabilities which included visual, hearing, intellectual, physical, and mental and multiple impairments. She also shared some tips and strategies for teaching children with disabilities. She said, “As a teacher, you must believe in them without any doubt. Make use of technology to help children who are visually impaired. Know each child’s abilities and interests and build activities suitable for them. Finally, identify their interests and assign tasks based on them. In addition, while organising an activity, always keep safety and dangers in mind. Furthermore, cooperation, creativity, communication, and tenacity are crucial aspects of raising these children.”
In her sharing session, she shared some of the activities that occurred at her school previously. She advised teachers to continuously look for opportunities that would allow students to explore. “Look for initiatives, campaigns, and financial assistance that may be useful in introducing STEM education to students,” added Nur Rawaidah.
