UTAR Centre
for Corporate and Community Development (CCCD), in collaboration with UTAR
Unovate Centre and MCM Max Capital Management Holding Ltd (MCM), organised
the “CEO Talk Series: Entrepreneurship and Unipreneurship” via Zoom on 17
November 2021.
The webinar
was delivered by Founder and Group CEO of Max Capital Management Holding Ltd
(MCM) Adjunct Prof Ts Maxshangkar. It was moderated by Head of Unovate
Centre-cum-Acting Head of Department of Consultancy and Commercialisation Dr
Lee Sheng Chyan.
During the
talk, he revealed the path to attain success in entrepreneurship and shared
his insights about “Entrepreneurship and Unipreneurship”. Among the topics
he shared include “A day in the life of an entrepreneur”, “The importance of
network for an entrepreneur” and many more. He
also shared about inspiring books that changed his life.
Prof
Maxshangkar sharing his entrepreneurial experience with participants
Prof
Maxshangkar started his talk by sharing with participants how he transformed
from a kampong boy to a global business investor, “I still remember when I
graduated in 2002, I told my parents that I wanted to become an
entrepreneur. Being a first-class honour student, I received my first job
offer with a starting pay of RM7,000. But my dream was to become an
entrepreneur, therefore, I rejected the great offer and dived into full-time
entrepreneurship.”
“One of the
skills to become an entrepreneur is to know how to sell yourself to achieve
your dream. The easiest way to achieve success is to find a good role model
and copy what they do,” Prof Maxshangkar said. Quoting Tony Robbins, an
American author, he said, “If you want to be successful, find someone who
has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you'll achieve
the same results.” He also shared the two books that changed his life and
mindset- Copycat marketing 101 by Burke Hedges and Rich Dad Poor Dad by
Robert T. Kiyosaki.
Books that
changed Prof Maxshangkar’s life and mindset
Prof
Maxshangkar emphasised, “To become a successful entrepreneur, you must learn
how to sell. Always prepare a second solution. Price is what clients pay,
value is what you sell.” “Don’t be afraid to fail and don’t be afraid to
try. If you think you are too young, no problem, you can build your network.
If you think you don’t have skills, no problem, you can always learn before
you earn. If you think you have no capital, no problem, you can pitch your
proposal and use other people’s money as your capital,” he added.

He concluded, “The only way to do great work is to do what you love and love what you do, every single day! When you know what you want to achieve in life, you will have the passion to do the work. Always remember, the outcomes and numbers never lie.”:p>
The webinar then saw an active interaction between the speakers and the participants. The talk ended with an extensive yet insightful Q&A session.
