Most of them were Fortune 500 companies in the world, covering fields such as finance, construction, transportation and logistics, electronic technology and manufacturing. Nearly 700 jobs were offered to local talents in Malaysia. The virtual career fair will be taking place from 11 April 2022 to 11 June 2022.
Present at the opening ceremony were Deputy Education Minister YB Senator Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon, Minister Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia Zhang Peidong, China Embassy in Malaysia Education Counsellor Zhao Changtao, President of CECCM Zhang Min, UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat, members of CECCM, UTAR staff and students.
Dato’ Mah emphasised, “Malaysian talents are very competitive in the job market, and I believe that our multilingual talents can meet the requirements of many foreign companies, including the Chinese companies. Malaysia also welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Malaysia, especially under the Belt and Road Initiative. Chinese-funded enterprises have provided excellent and advanced development concepts, management techniques and a large amount of funds to Malaysia, which brought us a strong impetus and contributed outstanding forces to the local area.”
He believes that joining a Chinese-funded enterprise will allow local talents to develop their strengths and give them a broader space for career development.
Zhang Peidong began her speech by expressing her gratitude to the Ministry of Education of Malaysia and the organiser. She said, “The continuous recruitment of talents by Chinese-funded enterprises shows prosperity and the positive development of China enterprises in Malaysia. Chinese-funded enterprises that recruit talents in Malaysia and cultivate local talents reflect the ‘One Belt One Road’ concept of joint consultation and joint construction to create a win-win situation.” She hopes that the Chinese-funded enterprises could seize the opportunity to combine their own corporate culture with the Malaysian culture while expanding their talent teams, earnestly fulfilling their social responsibilities, and bringing a positive corporate image and good contribution of Chinese-funded enterprises to Malaysia.
Prof Ewe said, “UTAR has been committed to the cultivation of holistic education since its founding. Its educational philosophy not only aims to allow students to acquire comprehensive educational knowledge, but also attaches great importance to students’ understanding of soft skills and social skills. This career fair is a good platform for students to have a better plan for their employment directions and at the same time enable Chinese-funded enterprises to recruit more talents. The career fair also helps the fresh graduates to identify the current market trends.” He mentioned that he looks forward to organising more activities with CECCM in the future while opening up opportunities for more outstanding students and Chinese-funded enterprises, and forming a good platform for school-enterprise exchange.
Zhang Min shared, “The number of job positions opened by Chinese-funded enterprises this time has doubled the number of jobs opportunities in 2019, which shows that Chinese-funded enterprises are looking for Malaysian local talents. Also, compared to the traditional offline mode in the past, this career fair provides wider coverage and a convenient recruitment process as it is more flexible. Moreover, online cross-time and space interaction has greatly improved the scope of recruitment.”
The opening ceremony adjourned with a group photography session.
