The Department of Building and Property Management under the Faculty
of Accountancy and Management has organised a career talk by EM Services,
Singapore in a collaboration with CareerStar on 29 July 2022 at UTAR Sungai
Long Campus.
The career talk aimed to provide students, especially
from the Building and Property Management field a platform to gain exposure
to the company and job opportunities related to real estate in Singapore
from industry players.
Phoebe Goh
The talk commenced with the presentation of a
corporate video by EM Services Human Resources Executive Phoebe Goh. She
then gave an in-depth explanation about their company background and shared
the various aspects of the company. According to Phoebe Goh, EM services is
Singapore’s First Township Management Company. It has been serving the
community for 34 years and it has over 1,600 staff and employees. EM
Services is also a market leader in the township, currently managing ten of
Singapore’s seventeen townships. It has managed around 700,000 Housing &
Development Board (HDB) residential units, 9,700 retails and shop units,
6,200 market and food centre stalls, and 470,000 vehicle parking lots.
Furthermore, she also shared their company’s vision and some prestigious
awards awarded to EM Services, their businesses, their scope of work such as
routine estate maintenance, some of their Eco and Smart Projects and the
offers provided to EM Services employees.

EM Services General Manager of Sembawang Town Council
Soon Min Sin, on the other hand, shared his perspective of working in EM
Services, while highlighting five key points, namely Caring and
Staff-Centric Organisation, Teamwork, Learning/ Growing, Integrity and
Professionalism/ Quality. He said, “Being professional is something like
‘know what you do, do what you know’. It is one of the important things that
should be emphasised and treasured in order to give us the motivation to
continue to excel.”
Javier Tin
EM Services Property Management Executive Javier Tin,
who is also a UTAR alumnus, shared his working experience in Singapore. He
talked about the transportation and accommodations provided in Singapore;
his working duties; the learning opportunities available for a property
officer in EM Services as well as the working culture in EM Services. As he
shared his working experience in EM Services, he encouraged the students to
work in overseas companies to equip themselves with different working
cultures and experiences.
Ashley Neo
EM Services Human Resources Manager Ashley Neo shared
the job description of a senior property officer and its employee benefits.
The talk came to an end with a group photography and a Q&A session.
