two decades, it is undeniable that UTAR has educated many young talents as
well as attained uncountable achievements,” he enthused.
He emphasised that UTAR is a
university ‘by the people, for the people’, hence building a hospital is one
way for the university to give back to the community. He added, “UTAR
Hospital will provide vital services to the people of Kampar and its
surrounding communities; services that will not only impact the health of
our communities but also ones that can be leveraged in healthcare facilities
across the country for all Malaysians.” Dato’ Mah also mentioned that he was
grateful for the support given by the generous philanthropists, donors,
organisations and the community to UTAR Hospital.

his delight to be part of this fundraising event
Econsave Cash & Carry Sdn Bhd
General Manager Wong Yun Fatt expressed his appreciation to the participants
for their attendance and support. He emphasised, “The first Econsave Sin
Chew Charity Night was held in December last year. It successfully raised
RM2,340,729.00. This time, however, we managed to raise RM4,309,380.00.”
Wong also mentioned that Econsave
has been collaborating with Sin Chew Daily since 2017 to raise funds for
schools in need. He hopes that it will serve as a starting point for the
community to contribute to education. He enthused that he and his team are
very honoured to be part of this fundraising event for UTAR Hospital, which
is a meaningful initiative to nurture medical talents as well as provide
medical services to the community and nation. He hopes to see UTAR Hospital
become a pivotal hospital for the locals and bring development to Perak.
Koo Cheng wishing
UTAR success
Sin Chew Executive Director and
Sin Chew Daily of Media Chinese International Ltd Chief Executive Officer
Koo Cheng said, “When UTAR announced its intention to raise funds for the
hospital, I saw many philanthropists, donors, organisations and people from
the community responding to it enthusiastically. This reflects the
recognition UTAR gained from the society, especially the Chinese community.”
He added, “Where there is
recognition, there will also be expectations. Although these expectations
could bring pressure to UTAR, I believe they could also drive UTAR to its
success. UTAR will always remember
and stick to its mission and goal - as a university by the people for the
people by giving back to the community and providing high-quality services
to the community.”
Tan Sri Sak
thanking the Board of Trustees, UTAR Council, University Management, staff,
students, alumni and the people for their dedication
UTAR Education Foundation Board of
Trustees Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Sak Cheng Lum said, “For more than 20
years, the UTAR Education Foundation Board of Trustees have worked
hand-in-hand with UTAR to nurture and grow the university until its
successful outcome today with two significant campuses, more than 76,000
alumni and now, the establishment of the UTAR Hospital in its Kampar Campus.
This expedient growth and the successful establishment of both the
university and the hospital are reflective of UTAR’s positive culture and
sustained commitment towards continuous improvement, investment in resources
and time, and efforts in building quality and excellence in teaching and
learning, and research and development.”
He added, “Most importantly, the
greatest key to the success of UTAR and the establishment of the UTAR
Hospital is the great synergy among the Board of Trustees, the UTAR Council,
the University Management, the staff, the students, the alumni and the
people. The combined efforts of everyone fulfilling the same goals and the
dedication to work until success is attained- these are the seeds that led
to the expedient and successful blooming of UTAR and recognition for its
achievements by the various ranking authorities.”
