Exchange of MoU with Jinko Solar Technology Sdn Bhd

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was exchanged between UTAR and Jinko Solar Technology Sdn Bhd (Jinko Solar) at UTAR Kampar Campus on 5 August 2022 to initiate collaboration.

The MoU was pre-signed by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Jinko Solar Technology Sdn Bhd and Jinko Solar Technology Sdn Bhd Deputy General Manager Lee Swee Lim.

Prof Ewe, in his speech, said, “We are indeed privileged and honoured to work together with Jinko Solar Technology Sdn Bhd, one of the largest and most innovative solar technology companies in the world. Jinko Solar also covers the core links of the photovoltaic industry chain, focusing on the R&D of integrated photovoltaic products and integrated clean energy solutions. At present, Jinko Solar’s products serve more than 3,000 customers in more than 160 countries around the world and the company has ranked No.1 in global module shipments from 2016 to 2019. Solar power is a great sustainable green energy choice, from reducing greenhouse gases to improving our air quality and conserving our precious resources. Solar energy can also help to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and lower energy prices for years to come.”

He added, “This collaboration aligns us with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) No 7 which promotes affordable and clean energy. Recently, UTAR was ranked 84th World’s Most Sustainable University in UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2021. The inclusion of UTAR in this ranking demonstrates the university’s commitment which supports the UNSDG that brings impact to the environment. Today is certainly a very significant day for both parties. I am feeling happy and excited that this mutual partnership will promote our efforts toward a more sustainable future. This is also a good opportunity for both parties to share knowledge and expertise for a win-win partnership in research projects together.”

On behalf of Jinko Solar, Lee said, “I am very happy to sign this MoU with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. I look forward to exploring collaborations in the fields of solar technology.”
