“I hope there will be more English Camp in the future because the
camp was very useful for gaining knowledge,” and “We really enjoyed the
programme, thank you so much!” were some of the comments given by the
form-five students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur who
attended the English Language Camp organised by the Centre for Extension
Education (CEE) on 3 August 2022.
The English Language Camp, led by CEE instructors V. D. Aaron and
Najihah binti Pazaer, aimed to foster the enjoyment of learning the English
Language among 160 students who attended the camp. Also present at the camp
were CEE Director Ir Dr Lim Jee Hock, CEE English Unit Head P. Mohanambikay
and a representative from the Division of Programme Promotion.
Several activities were organised to attract the students to
participate and to practice using English throughout the camp.
The camp kickstarted with a presentation on English grammar focusing
on ‘Parts of Speech’. It was conducted by CEE instructors V. Bragathiswary
and K. Kalai Mathi. The session proceeded with another language presentation
by CEE instructors Beh Heng Jian and V.D. Aaron. The presentation focused on
‘Subject-Verb-Agreement’.
The camp also featured a game called ‘English Escapade’ in which
students learned the importance of clear thinking, teamwork and analytical
skills. The camp ended with a speech delivered by the Principal of Sekolah
Menengah Kebangsaan Cochrane Haslina binti Kamari. She said, “Thank you UTAR
for organising this English Language Camp and enriching students with the
necessary knowledge and skills.”
