FCI students design rabbit lantern for Mid Autumn Campaign

UTAR Faculty of Creative Industries’ (FCI) Graphic Design and Multimedia Society collaborated with Sungei Wang Plaza Management Team to organise the Mid-Autumn Festival Campaign. It was held from 22 to 29 August 2022 at Plaza Sungei Wang.

The members of the society were tasked with creating designs and painting one of the four rabbit lanterns sent by the management team. There was a total of nine volunteers from the society who helped to design and paint the lantern, including FCI Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Ts Ang Kok Yew and FCI lecturer and Society Advisor Jeevamalar Kumarasamy.

The students worked tirelessly to produce the design for the rabbit lantern and it took them nearly a week to complete the design. They were tasked with tracing, cutting and painting the lantern, before finally wrapping and delivering the lantern to UTAR Sungei Wang Plaza.

Overall, the team successfully completed the project on schedule. The rabbit lantern was put on display at Sungei Wang plaza during the mooncake celebration. The team gained much valuable experience from the project and learned various skills such as teamwork since this was the newly formed committee’s first collaborative project.
