Kuen Cheng High School students visit UTAR again at Kampar Campus

A group of four teachers and 78 students from Kuen Cheng High School, Kuala Lumpur took an insightful tour at UTAR Kampar Campus on 29 November 2022. The group was led by Kuen Cheng High School Head of Department of Counselling Chong Lee Ying. The visit aimed to expose secondary school students to programmes offered by UTAR. It was a good opportunity to get students to learn the lifestyle of university students at UTAR, Kampar.

UTAR was delighted to welcome the group from Kuen Cheng High School. The students were guided and given a tour around the campus. The students were also invited to a talk titled “What is artificial intelligence (AI) and how is it going to affect our lives?”. It was presented by Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) academic Assoc Prof Ts Dr Tan Hung Khoon. The students were briefly enlightened on the development of AI technology in human society.

UTAR provided two workshop sessions for the students. The workshop titled “Achieving your dreams in the built environment” was presented by Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Head of Department for Construction Management Dr Kwan Wai Hoe. The other workshop titled “Happiness inspires success” was jointly presented by Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FAS) academics Dr Ooh Seow Ling and Teoh Xi Yao. During Dr Kwan’s workshop, the students learned the benefits of effective construction management in daily life. Meanwhile, Dr Ooh and Teoh emphasised the importance of mental health in one’s life at their workshop. The students showed enthusiasm as they actively participated in discussions with the UTAR academics on various topics.

Besides visiting the Kampar Campus, the students were also given a tour to the newly-built UTAR Hospital where they were introduced to the hospital’s layout and medical services.

Overall, the students expressed their satisfaction and joy as they gained insightful knowledge on the programmes offered by UTAR. This led them to be better prepped for their future life in universities.

On 8 October 2022, a group of 42 students paid a visit to UTAR Sungai Long Campus. They were offered a tour as well as a talk and a workshop session during their visit to the ever-bustling campus.
