UTAR honours its athletes with sports and talent appreciation ceremony

To celebrate the UTAR athletes’ accomplishments throughout the year, the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) of Sungai Long Campus organised the annual UTAR Sports & Talent Appreciation ceremony on 23 November 2022 at UTAR Multipurpose Hall.

Gracing the ceremony with their attendance were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong. Athletes from the futsal, taekwondo, e-Sports, badminton, table tennis, chess and karate clubs were also in attendance to receive their certificates.

The ceremony kicked off with a speech from Prof Dato’ Ewe who congratulated the athletes. “Today’s appreciation ceremony is dedicated to you and we are also coming together to celebrate the achievements all of you have gained. Regardless of the type of prizes you receive, what matters the most is your willingness to participate and try. UTAR is always proud of your participation because we believe that these are educational platforms for you to further hone your skills,” said Prof Dato’ Ewe.

The ceremony continued with a video presentation of all the athlete’s efforts in their respective competitions. It was soon followed by the long-awaited presentation of certificates to the athletes as a token of gratitude for their contribution to improving UTAR’s reputation.

Singing, Dragon Dance and 24 Festive Drum performances were also performed by students from various clubs which livened up the event. Representatives from each team also took the opportunity to share their experiences and advice with all the other athletes.

The ceremony ended with a group photography session and a lunch buffet.
